St. Louis C.A.N. -A -Team- THUNDERBIRDS

St. Louis C.A.N. Will be offering a baseball camp in January 2011. It will be a 8 day camp the cost will be $100.00. The A team will play on a higher level than the Red Bird Rookies. They will be in (4) four tournaments and will have a chance to compete for trophies.

The cost to be on the A team will be $120.00. The fee will cover uniforms. Play in four tournaments, and a ALLSTAR game. The St Louis CAN A Team will play by big league rules.

This will be an opportunity for your child to take baseball to the next level.
Parent's involvement is important to support this program, fundraisers, assist in planning of trips, and support etc.

Activities are currently operating out of the following schools: Nance Elementary, Walbridge Elementary and Lexington Elementary.

AEROBICS CLASS
Walbridge CEC
Classes are being taught by Coach Will and are offered at designated schools. The classes provide low impact aerobics, health awareness and nutrition education that address cardiac fitness for young adults and seniors. The health benefits that can be gained from aerobic exercise are important, not only does this form of exercise help control a person’s weight; it also limits the chances of developing many common illnesses and diseases. Major benefits to aerobics are as follows (info from www.weightlossforall.com):

Lower blood pressure
-Oxygen is used more efficiently resulting in increased fat burning during exercise
-Increased endurance
-Reduced risks in developing diabetes and other diseases
-Increase in good cholesterol, decrease in bad cholesterol
-Faster recovery after exercise
-More efficient cardiovascular system
-A positive body composition change, more muscle less fat
-Better chance of maintaining healthy weight later in life
-Help in coping with all other emotional and psychological stress


KARATE – KICKBOXING
Nance, Lexington, and Walbridge CEC
Classes are being taught by karate instructors and are offered at designated schools. The classes are designed to motivate healthy behavior changes and increase daily physical activity and movement. The educational components engage youth in Math, Science and Social Science. Some of the major benefits to Karate-Kickboxing are as follows:

Increase focus
-Develop self-control and discipline
-Improve self-esteem and confidence
-Improve fitness and coordination
-Help relieve stress
-Cultivate leadership skills
-Reinforce values such as honesty, respect and integrity


DANCE
Classes are being taught at designated schools and offered to 3rd to 6th grade students. The classes promote health, nutrition and fitness through multi-level approach. It helps raise awareness and motivate healthy behavior changes to increase daily physical activity and movement. Dance promotes discipline, coordination, memory, flexibility, strength, line, grace and stamina. Performing builds positive self-esteem and confidence, helps with other sports, and is just great fun? All kids are capable of relating and understanding basic techniques that are shown to them and demonstrated properly. Some of the benefits to dancing are as follows:

Creativity is fostered
-It is a good form of exercise
-Builds confidence
-Can lead to learning respect
-Helps develop social skills
-Helps with bonding
